A review’s completeness is limited by the record it analyzes. This month, reviews scaled to charts of any length and began showing their work.
Reviews can now be scaled to charts of any size
Improved
A 90-day residential stay can generate hundreds of documents. Long charts now come through complete, with every document indexed and searchable as new records are added.
This means that long-staying, high-acuity patients receive the same level of depth to review as a two-week detox, even with exceptionally large records.
If you previously reviewed an unusually long chart, it may be beneficial to run it again. Reviews now pull in more of the underlying record.
Every finding shows its evidence
New
Every finding now includes the exact passage that supports it.
This makes reviewing results much easier to act upon. You can immediately see the source language, determine if you’re looking at a genuine documentation gap, and decide whether it should be returned to the clinician or submitted as a tuning request to Circle.
Additionally, for appeals, you can directly access the passages that support medical necessity from a finding.
Reviews reason across multiple documents
New
“Was the treatment plan updated after the level of care change?”
To answer that, you need the treatment plan, the level-of-care record, and the dates on both.
Now, reviews assemble the documents a question requires and reason across them. This is because real audit questions rarely reside in a single document.
Improvements
- Authorization dates in the review dashboard. Add authorization start and end dates as columns, sort them, and identify who is nearing the end of their authorized days while there’s still time to take action.
- Sharper ASAM retrieval during form filling. Relevant ASAM criteria are more reliably pulled into forms.
- Sunwave syncs at a higher volume. Rate limits are managed with backoff, and long utilization review reports are processed in chunks to ensure smooth syncing for large accounts.
- Faster audit dashboards for high-volume accounts. Large patient and review datasets now load more efficiently.
Fixes
- Selecting a subset of facilities now correctly identifies the patients.
- Summary questions no longer display irrelevant pass/fail blocks.
- Sunwave records with a blank authorization date now synchronize.
